Iconic Siesta armchair designed by Ingmar Relling in 1965, one of the most representative pieces of Norwegian design of the 20th century. This Classic Low version, produced in the 1970s, accurately embodies the synthesis between structural lightness, constructive rationality and maximum comfort that defined Scandinavian modernism.

The structure is made of bent plywood, forming a flexible and resistant stretcher frame on which the leather seat and backrest are suspended. This system - based on tension and suspension - reduces the visual weight of the whole and optimizes ergonomics, adapting naturally to the body. The detachable design and the modular logic of its components reflect the functional and industrial vocation that characterized Scandinavian production at the time.

The Siesta model was a milestone in the internationalization of Norwegian design, reaching wide circulation in Europe and the United States and consolidating Relling as a key figure in the post-war Scandinavian design scene. Its combination of formal economy, material honesty and extraordinary comfort has made it a timeless classic, especially valued in the vintage and collectible design market.

Ingmar Relling was a passionate designer who created a number of functional furniture designs during his long career. He began his career at the design studio Rastad & Relling in 1947 before establishing his own studio in Sykkylven in 1950.
