DESCRIPTION
Set of four Gascón armchairs. Spain, 1970s.
Structure in solid wood (probably stained oak).
Seat and back upholstered in original textile fabric.
Padded foam upholstery.
Keeps intact its original materials and finishes.
Measurements 80x45x45cm.
Rare set of four stool-chairs produced by the Spanish firm Gascón during the 1970's, a period of special interest within the national design due to its openness to international influences and the adoption of a more refined modern language.
The pieces present a structure of straight lines and contained proportions, where the protagonism lies in the constructive clarity and the quality of the wood. The horizontal armrests and geometric stretcher frame contrast with the padded volume of the seat and backrest, creating a balance between structural rationality and comfort. The red upholstery reinforces its visual presence and dialogues with the warmth of the wood.
This model, which is not very common in the brand's catalog, reflects the evolution of Spanish furniture in the 1970s towards more sober and architectural forms, far removed from the previous historicism and closer to contemporary Central European trends.
They retain their original materials and finishes and are in excellent condition.
