The unique desk, attributed to Achille Castiglioni, shows formal and conceptual affinity with the language developed by the designer in his modular systems and compact furniture solutions.

The desk, conceived as a compact vertical volume, transforms when opened into a complete workstation by means of a hinged top supported by visible metal turnbuckles. This technical solution responds to a transformable logic characteristic of Castiglioni's design thinking, where structure and use are integrated with economy of means and constructive clarity.

The composition is based on pure geometric planes, integral black monochrome and honest exposition of the technical elements. The absence of ornamentation and formal precision place the piece within late Italian rationalism, reinforcing its architectural rather than decorative interpretation.

The set is accompanied by the "Tric" folding chair, designed in 1965 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. The chair is a fully documented design, recognizable by its light structure, continuous curvature and refined folding mechanism, consolidated in the history of modern Italian design.

The brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni studied at the Politecnico di Milano, as did their older brother Livio. In 1938 Pier Giacomo and Livio opened their own studio, to be joined by the younger Achille in 1944. Finally, in 1952 Livio left the group to continue his career independently. Until Pier Giacomo's early death in 1968, the two brothers collaborated on numerous designs. Today their work is represented in prominent museums such as the MoMA in New York.
