DESCRIPTION
Spanish chair from the 1960s in the style of GEORGE NAKASHIMA (USA, 1905-1990).
Chestnut wood.
In excellent condition.
Measurements: 92 x 40 x 45 cm.
The chair in tender drinks from the philosophy and style of George Nakashima, one of the great masters of the American Craft movement. It stands out for creating a symbiosis between refined craftsmanship and a free expression of the nature of chestnut materialized in the "free Edge" of the backrest and the back of the seat. The "Nakashima" elements of the chair are the modern "Windsor" construction (as in his famous Straight Chair, he uses slender, cylindrical spindles for the backrest that are inserted directly into the seat), the focus on natural wood, tapered and angled legs and organic simplicity (he eschews industrial right angles in favor of softly rounded edges, as if the chair had been sculpted by hand).
