This low table, produced in Italy in the 1960s, is part of the context of post-war Italian modern design, a time of great technical and formal sophistication. The piece responds to the principles of structural clarity and volumetric purification characteristic of the period, in which domestic furniture is conceived as a synthesis between constructive rationality and material refinement. Made of Rio rosewood, appreciated for its contrasting grain and chromatic depth, and mahogany, the table shows a careful treatment of the surfaces and a mastery of the woodwork typical of Italian cabinetmaking of the time.
The structure is articulated by two solid lateral supports that function as load-bearing planes, generating a markedly horizontal composition. On them rests a glass top, whose transparency lightens the whole and allows to appreciate the continuity of the drawing of the wood in the lower plane.
