DESCRIPTION
PIERO FORNASETTI (Italy, 1913 - 1988), for Antonangeli
Table lamp. Italy, ca. 1970.
Structure in nickel-plated iron and solid wood (probably beech).
Decorated polypropylene lampshade.
Measurements: 78 x 36 x 36 cm.
Elegant table lamp conceived within the creative universe of Piero Fornasetti, where classical architecture becomes a decorative motif. The cylindrical lampshade presents a refined black and white composition of colonnades, arcades and balustrades that evoke the Italian Renaissance tradition. The obelisk-shaped base reinforces this architectural reading, bringing balance to the ensemble.
Italian designer Fornasetti developed a unique language based on the reinterpretation of classical motifs through repetition, optical illusion and subtle visual irony. After his training in Milan and a period of exile in Switzerland during World War II, he consolidated a deeply personal style.
