DESCRIPTION
Pair of tubular armchairs Déco Reig; c. 1930.
Metal and wood, with upholstered seat.
Measurements: 38 x 61 x 77 cm (x2); 80 cm (seat height, x2).
This pair of armchairs is an example of the transition between Art Deco and the emerging rationalist language of modern furniture. Its design stands out for its structural clarity and restrained elegance: a low silhouette, generous volumes and continuous lines that convey balance and visual lightness. The most characteristic element is its chrome-plated metal tube structure, which forms a cantilever base. This resource not only provides an innovative aesthetic for the time, but also introduces a slight flexibility in the seat, improving comfort. The armrests incorporate wood, creating a warm contrast to the industrial shine of the metal. The mustard-toned upholstery has a velvety appearance and dialogues with the enveloping geometry of the backrest and seat. These volumes, wide and slightly inclined, invite a relaxed posture, moving away from the rigidity of previous styles.
