Sculptural pendant lamp model Konkylie, conceived from the overlapping of metal sheets that wrap the focus creating a dynamic volume of great visual strength. Its design, inspired by organic forms such as the shell -hence its name-, generates an interesting play of light and shadow, filtering the lighting in an indirect and warm way. The combination of polished and lacquered brass reinforces its decorative character, placing it as an outstanding piece within the Danish design of the 1960s, halfway between organicism and space age aesthetics.
Louis Weisdorf was a Danish designer trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he was a disciple of Arne Jacobsen. He developed a prolific career in the field of industrial design and lighting, collaborating with firms such as Lyfa. His work is characterized by the exploration of modular and repetitive structures, with a strong sculptural component. His designs, today highly valued, are represented in collections such as the Designmuseum Danmark.
