DESCRIPTION
Pair of armchairs attributed to MARGARITA BRENDER (Spain, XX century), 70s.
Pine and bulrush.
Measurements: 89 x 66 x 68 cm.
Pair of armchairs produced in Spain in the late 1970s, attributed to the architect Margarita Brender. Both are built from a solid pine wood structure, with straight lines and visible assemblies that emphasize its honest and functional character. The design, of great formal refinement, is articulated by means of open geometric volumes that define both the base and the armrests, while the backrest introduces an interesting structural play. The seat (slightly inclined to enhance the comfort of the chair) and back, woven in bulrush, provide warmth and texture, establishing a natural contrast with the rigidity of the wood.
The design of the piece is reminiscent of models such as the Carlotta armchair by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina, both in its construction and in its architectural language, where traditional craftsmanship and modernity converge in a sober and functional balance.
