DESCRIPTION
Revolving sculptural chest of drawers. Spain, 1980s.
Mukali wood.
Measurements: 128 x 45 x 35 cm.
Piece of handcrafted cabinetmaking made by a carpenter in the 1980s, of limited production, based on a traditional straight structure reinterpreted from a dynamic logic. The piece of furniture is conceived as a vertical orthogonal body, typical of a classic chest of drawers, whose uniqueness lies in its drawers: each one can rotate independently, altering the formal reading of the whole. Thus, an initially stable and ordered structure is transformed into a variable composition, where displacement generates a changing architectural effect without renouncing its conventional base. This system introduces a duality between structural order and compositional freedom, combining functionality with a playful and sculptural character. The clean-lined fronts incorporate lowered circular handles, a discreet resource that reinforces the sobriety of the design and highlights the structural play of the drawers.
