DESCRIPTION

A handcrafted armchair of applied arts. Hungary, 1970s.
Oak wood and braided leather. 1 unit.
In good condition, with antique patina on the leather.
Measurements: 90 x 54 x 40 cm; 44 cm (seat height).

Hungarian armchair from the seventies, linked to the field of applied arts or iparművészeti. Made with a solid oak frame and seat and back in brown-toned braided leather, it stands out for its marked craftsmanship and the expressive strength of its materials.

The design combines a robust, rustic-inspired construction with a modern language of great sobriety. The cylindrical uprights, straight arms and slightly curved leather backrest give the chair a strong presence, while the woven seat introduces an interesting play of texture and warmth. Its aesthetic dialogues with Latin American handcrafted furniture of the mid-20th century, especially with the proposals of Ángel Pazmiño, where constructive tradition and formal modernity are naturally integrated.

Because of their balance between functionality and manual labor, they constitute a singular example of European handcrafted furniture from the 1970s, with a decorative presence that is especially attractive for contemporary interiors.
