DESCRIPTION

CARLO DE CARLI (Italy, 1910-1999) for Cinova.
Armchair and ottoman "915", 1970s.
Terracotta-colored suede.
Measurements: 85 x 85 x 92 cm; 40 cm (seat height); 40 x 65 x 65 x 65 cm (ottoman).
This unusual set, consisting of an armchair and its matching ottoman, is an iconic creation by Italian designer Carlo De Carli for the firm Cinova, dating from the early 1970s. With its enveloping silhouette and generous seat, it perfectly embodies the elegance and comfort of Italian design of the period. Covered in terracotta (or rust) colored suede, this set seduces by the unique patina of its split leather, developed over the decades. This noble, warm and textured material gives the ensemble a strong visual presence while remaining soft to the touch. The original foams, still in excellent condition, guarantee remarkable comfort.
The armchair has cozy proportions (85 cm in height, 85 cm in width, 92 cm in depth; seat height: 40 cm), while the accompanying ottoman (65 x 65 x 40 cm) perfectly extends the relaxation experience. The whole rests on a distinctive chrome-plated tubular structure that combines modernity and visual lightness. Coming from a first hand in Brescia, this rare piece of patinated charm is destined for lovers of vintage furniture.
After turning to architecture in the 1950s, De Carli began to focus on furniture design, creating elegant and modern pieces for the most prestigious Italian manufacturers, such as Cassina and Tecno. He also worked on interior design projects for public and private buildings, such as apartments, hotels and offices. De Carli's style is characterized by understated elegance, simplicity and attention to detail. Throughout his career, De Carli received numerous awards and distinctions for his work, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1955 and 1960. Today, his furniture and interior architecture projects are considered emblematic examples of modern Italian design.
