DESCRIPTION
POUL HUNDEVAD (Denmark, 1917-2011).
Folding stool "Guldhøj", model PH-41, 1960s.
Teak frame and original leather seat.
Structure in very good condition. The leather shows signs of use typical of the antique.
Measurements: 37 × 48 × 37 cm.
Folding stool, model PH-41, designed by Poul Hundevad in the framework of the Danish modern furniture of the mid-twentieth century. The model is inspired by the famous folding stool found in the burial of Guldhøj, a Danish prehistoric piece that Hundevad reinterpreted from the functionality and elegance of Scandinavian design.
The teak structure stands out for its organic lines, its visual lightness and the precision of its assemblies, which allow the piece to be folded with ease. The original leather seat, suspended between the crossbars, provides flexibility and comfort, while retaining an attractive patina of use.
The contrast between the warmth of teak and the lived-in character of leather reinforces its interest as an authentic object of Nordic design. With its balance of historical tradition, quality craftsmanship and modern functionality, this is a particularly interesting pair for collectors of Danish design.
