DESCRIPTION
Pair of TEMDE LEUCHTEN lamps. Switzerland, 1960s.
Pine wood, rope pendant and blown glass.
Measurements: 32 x 15 x 15 cm.
Singular pair of brutalist lamps by Temde Leuchten, made in Switzerland in the 1960s. They are pieces of strong material presence where nature, geometry and craftsmanship are combined with a deeply sculptural language. Each lamp is composed of an organically worked pine wood trunk, a rope pendant and a blown glass sphere with bubbles, whose texture generates a warm and vibrant light of great visual richness. Their versatile design allows them to be used both as table lamps and in wall installation, expanding their possibilities within the space.
Temde Leuchten was a prestigious Swiss-German lighting manufacturer, founded in 1911. They are known worldwide for their mid-century designs, combining solid wood, brass, sisal rope and blown glass. Their pieces are true icons of interior decoration, especially for their warm, organic style of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Clearly linked to the brutalist imagery of the mid-20th century, these pieces stand out for the honesty of their materials and the expressiveness of their raw, natural forms.
