DESCRIPTION
Art Deco folding screen from the 30's.
Hand painted and lacquered. Brass details.
Measurements: 182 x 165,5 cm.
The tender screen is an excellent example of the aesthetic strength of the European Art Deco period as it brings together several of the essential features of this style: a symmetrical and elegant composition, the use of geometric shapes such as the checkered floor and stylized columns, a sophisticated and elongated female figure that evokes the glamour of the twenties and thirties, a refined palette of colors and a clear decorative intent. In addition, the theatricality of the scene, the luxurious elements such as the fur stole and headdress, and the combination of modernity, fantasy and sophistication perfectly reflect the Art Deco taste for stylized beauty, refinement and the exaltation of modern life.
Composed of four wooden panels with an arched top, its silhouette introduces dynamism and elegance into the space, reinforcing its scenographic presence. The composition shows the figure of a woman dressed in the characteristic fashion of the 1920s, wearing a burgundy draped dress and a delicate feathered headdress. The brass details enrich the piece and provide material contrast, while the pictorial execution is evidence of remarkable craftsmanship. Beyond its function as a room divider, this is an authentic decorative work with a strong visual identity and great capacity for spatial transformation.
