Founded in Barcelona in the 1970s, BD Lumica was one of the pioneering firms in contemporary lighting design in Spain. It emerged from the creative environment of BD Barcelona Design, sharing its avant-garde spirit and commitment to excellence in craftsmanship and materials.
Its lamps combined the geometric and architectural design characteristic of late Modernism with a careful selection of fine materials—primarily brass, steel, and handcrafted glass—resulting in pieces that became symbols of understated luxury and Mediterranean modernity.
Today, BD Lumica’s creations are considered icons of mid- to late-20th-century Spanish design, highly prized in the collectibles and vintage decor markets for their build quality, timeless elegance, and scarcity on the current market.
