DESCRIPTION

Based on designs by PIERRE DELBÉE; France, ca. 1960.
Brass and porcelain.
Measurements: 62 x 35 x 22 cm.
A table lamp with an elegant sculptural composition, crafted from gilded brass with a design inspired by a watery landscape. The central structure consists of stylized stems and elongated leaves emerging from a circular base, among which are two birds in flight, modeled in white porcelain with a matte finish. The piece is topped by a rectangular shade with clean lines, whose simplicity balances the ornamental character of the base.
The design stands out for its refined elegance and the balance between the simplicity of its lines and the sculptural nature of its composition—distinctive features of French design from the 1960s and 1970s. The lamp is inspired by the models developed by Pierre Delbée, whose creations are characterized by the incorporation of naturalistic motifs—birds in flight, reeds, leaves, and plant forms—integrated into sophisticated gilded brass structures. Conceived as true functional sculptures, these pieces transcend their utilitarian purpose to become decorative elements of great aesthetic power. Their production was warmly received in Europe’s most exclusive interiors during the second half of the 20th century, establishing them as one of the most representative expressions of French decorative design of the era.
