An exceptional wall mirror designed by Luigi Brusotti, one of the most distinctive figures in mid-20th-century Italian design. The piece embodies the aesthetics of late Art Deco transitioning into Italian Modernism, characterized by refined forms, the use of fine materials, and the integration of light as a compositional element. The mirror features a structure with a concealed perimeter lighting system, designed to highlight the decorated areas of the glass and produce a highly elegant indirect lighting effect. This feature, common in Brusotti’s most refined creations, foreshadows the research conducted in Italy on the relationship between furniture, architecture, and lighting.
Luigi Brusotti was an Italian designer and decorator active between the 1930s and 1950s, specializing in highly refined furniture, lighting, and mirrors. His work bridges the gap between late Italian Art Deco and early Italian Modernism, characterized by the use of engraved glass, decorated mirrors, fine woods, and integrated lighting systems.
