Designed by FIARM (Fabbrica Italiana Arredamenti Razionali Mogliano Veneto) in 1964, this entryway mirror is an excellent example of mid-20th-century Italian interior design, a period characterized by a pursuit of functionality, formal purity, and high-quality materials. FIARM, based in Mogliano Veneto, was known for producing furniture with modern lines designed for elegant, contemporary interiors. The piece features an architectural composition consisting of three independent mirror sections, arranged vertically and framed by a wooden structure that organizes the whole with a distinct geometric sense. The red-lacquered background introduces a vibrant chromatic contrast that accentuates the visual depth and lends a sculptural character to the design, while the exposed wood supports reinforce the balance between rationality and the warmth of the material.
Marketed at the time as a FIARM wall mirror, this model reflects the influence of Italian Modernism, where furniture transcends its utilitarian function to become an artistic element. FIARM was an Italian furniture firm based in Mogliano Veneto (Treviso), active primarily during the 1960s and 1970s. It specialized in the production of furniture with rationalist lines. Its creations are characterized by geometry, modularity, and a balance between functionality and formal elegance, making them representative pieces of mid-20th-century Italian design.
