DESCRIPTION
ILLUM WIKKELSØ (Denmark, 1919–1999) for N. EILERSEN.
A pair of armchairs, Model 20, with solid teak frame and loose cushions upholstered in patterned fabric. Designed in 1966.
Produced by Niels Eilersen.
Chairs with small signs of use considering the age.
Measurements: 75 x 75 x 75, seat height 40 cm.
Pair of Model 20 chairs, a true representative of the successful Mid-Century movement, designed by Illum Wikkelsø and manufactured by N. Eilersen. It is characterized by a solid teak frame with refined, clean lines—lightweight and stripped down to its essence—combining straight lines with simple indentations in the armrests.
Illum Wikkelsø was one of the most renowned Danish designers, despite being one of the least documented. It is known that he graduated from the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and worked for Jacob Kjaer and for the architectural firm of Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielso, where he left his mark on Danish design furniture, which went on to spread throughout the world.
