DESCRIPTION

Based on designs by WOLFGANG LAUBERSHEIMER (Bad Kreuznach, Germany, 1955).
Postmodern shelving unit. Germany, 1980s.

Measurements: 200 x 45 x 45 cm.

Inspired by the innovative designs of Wolfgang Laubersheimer, this German bookshelf from the 1980s embodies the experimental and sculptural spirit of postmodern design. Its striking structure, formed by four slender, curved steel rods connected by metal tensioners, supports a suspended wooden module that appears to float in space, defying our perception of balance and gravity. More akin to an art installation than a conventional piece of furniture, the piece transforms the function of storage into an exercise in visual lightness, where structural tension and organic forms take center stage. The influence of German radical design and the Memphis movement is evident in its formal audacity and the pursuit of unconventional structural solutions, making this bookshelf a piece of great aesthetic impact.
