DESCRIPTION

MARCUS BORGENS (20th century) for Collectible Design, DTEC.
Cabinet, 1980s.
Painted, textured iron with wooden shelves and legs. Magnetic iron rose-shaped knob.
In good condition.
Measurements: 202 x 40 x 36 cm.

In this cabinet, Marcus Borgens employs a distinctly minimalist and architectural language characteristic of late 20th-century European design. Its composition is based on a tall, extremely slender volume, constructed using straight planes and rigorous geometry that dispenses with any superfluous ornamental elements. Its tall, narrow silhouette, defined by vertical profiles that emphasize the piece’s architectural structure, reflects a design of great formal rigor. The smooth door, with virtually no interruptions, focuses all attention on a singular detail: a rose-shaped magnetic iron knob, conceived as a subtle sculptural counterpoint that breaks the austerity of the whole and adds a poetic touch to a piece with severe lines.
