The rubber ducks have been the creative insignia of Florentijn Holfman. His best known work, "Rubber Duck", made its debut in 2007 in Saint-Nazaire, France, and has since appeared in many cities around the world. In 2011, the Hy?go Prefectural Museum of Art in Kobe, Japan, commissioned him to create another work, which became the Kobe Frog. Initially, the museum wanted the rubber duck placed on its ceiling, which Hofman declined. In 2014, he introduced HippopoThames in London on the River Thames, and Moon Rabbit in Taiwan, ahead of a land art festival in Taoyuan. In 2016, he created a floating fish sculpture in Wuzhen, China, and two animal sculptures called PETS for Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. In 2017, he created the Kraken playground in Shenzhen,3 China, on a site that had been occupied by a former Soviet aircraft carrier. Conceived as public art, they are not marketable, so the artist created miniature replicas like the one we show, which he has often given to non-profit organizations. In Hong Kong in 2013, it was the Alegre Foundation (Mental Health); in Pittsburgh in 2014, it was the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
