This stylized lamp foot represents a woman of beautiful anatomy holding a torch in triumphant attitude (used for the placement of the bulb). It is a piece of great vivacity and realism that follows the models of Henry Fugère.
The French sculptor Henry Fugère trained as a disciple of Cavelier, and showed his works at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, being awarded an honorable mention in 1927. He mainly made sculptures in bronze and chryselephantines in bronze and ivory or marble, always representing graceful and elegant female characters, in impossible positions, of great dynamism and, on many occasions, of marked sensuality, voluptuous representations, with suggestive postures and exposed breasts. Today, Fugère is mainly represented in private collections.
