DESCRIPTION
Italian bust of the 20th century, following Roman models.
Belgian red carved marble from Rance.
Measurements: 76 x 48 x 23 cm.
On a simple pedestal stands the bust of a female figure wearing a laurel wreath. It stands out for the naturalistic representation with which it has been endowed, appreciable both in the capture of her firm expression, as well as for the detail that her features allow to be considered. It presents a characteristic clothing, as clothing in the manner of classical antiquity, where the tunic stands out for the fall of its folds. The marbles are combined giving rise to a sculpture that stands out for its quality of execution.
This type of work is inspired by those made during the Renaissance and Baroque periods, especially in Italy. These took as an example those of the Roman Emperors, found in the same Italian capital, in which different marbles were combined. Stylistically, the idealization of the lady stands out, a detail also inspired by those ancient examples, with a somewhat pictorial treatment of the hair, which was also common on occasion.
