Captivating Art Deco sculpture, manufactured in France around 1930 according to the design of Georges Gori, who worked in Paris between the twenties and forties and was the author of exotic dancers and elegant Deco figures. On this occasion, despite taking a classic theme such as a maternity, Gori does not focus on the tenderness of the embrace but rather on capturing stylized movements through gestures and postures, which he also achieves with the young mother's dress, tight at the torso and pleated at the skirt. The figure's elegant pose and refined attire are executed with astonishing precision. She wears a cloche-like cap characteristic of the 1920s, framing a sweet face in marble. This combination of materials evokes the chryselephantine figures of antiquity, which in the Deco period are recovered, generally using bronze and ivory. The plinth combines high-end Portoro marble and onyx, combining marbling and textures. The base is not a simple pedestal but is integrated into the design by serving as a seat and enhancing its visual impact, a studied complement to the sculptural group.
