DESCRIPTION
Pair of praying uras; XVIII century.
Polychrome wood.
Measurements: 103 x 65 x 20 cm each.
They present damages.
Both pieces have a similar structure, although they differ in the details. Each one of the sculptures represents the figure of a young man praying. In both cases the character is kneeling, and in spite of the loss of the arms, it is understood, by the disposition of the body that would maintain them extended towards the front. Thus adopting an expressive gesture. The two figures are dressed in long tunics, perhaps a religious habit, which swirls in abundant folds next to their bent legs. In this case it is worth noting that one of the tunics presents a greater detail in the decoration and is also adorned with a shield located in the intermediate rear area.
In both cases the two characters look towards the ground with an expression of intense concentration, as they keep their eyelids down and the rest of their facial expression is serious and reflective. They have long wavy hair, which reaches their shoulders, which prevents to see the whole face with clarity. Even so, it can be appreciated that there are slight differences between both faces, which allow us to personalize each of the characters as independent figures.
