A money bill crossed by staples is a powerful gesture in the context of conceptual art. It could be interpreted as a poetic action of economic sabotage, a minimal but meaningful operation. Staples, with their connotation of crude and functional repair, act here as a form of unobtrusive but irreversible violence.
Cyril Hatt is a versatile artist. He began in the field of photography, although he transgressed the limits of photography, considering it a construction material in itself. Playing with 3D digital technology. Invited by Festival Images, the artist reconstructed the escalators of the former EPA in situ, placing an Alfa Romeo, an ATM and various consumer items on several floors of the iconic former supermarket in Vevey. His work was included in the retrospective dedicated to Claude Nobs at the Swiss National Museum in Zurich in 2018.
