Perry's ceramics, of classical forms, are covered with decorative and narrative motifs. Their specificity lies essentially in the type of themes he deals with, such as sexual abuse, death or sadomasochism, which are in rupture with those traditionally associated with this art. His work as a ceramist has been recognized with the Turner Prize in 2003.

Grayson Perry is a British visual artist and ceramist. In addition to his work as a painter and ceramicist, Grayson Perry is known for his appearances in his exhibitions under the name of Claire, his transvestite alter ego, who dresses in fanciful, brightly colored dresses.

Perry has made several documentary programs for television and has curated several exhibitions. He has published two autobiographies, 2007's Grayson Perry: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Girl and 2016's The Descent of Man. She also wrote and illustrated the 2012 novel Cycle of Violence, wrote a book about art, 2014's Playing to the Gallery, while publishing her illustrated Sketchbooks in 2016. Additionally, several books describing his work have been published. In 2013 for the BBC the Reith Lectures.

Perry has had solo exhibitions at the Bonnefantenmuseum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Barbican Centre, the British Museum and Serpentine Gallery in London, the Arnolfini in Bristol, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan. His work is in the permanent collections of the British Council and Arts Council, Crafts Council, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Tate and Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
