Large tabletop vase in silver-plated pewter, Art Nouveau period. Its baluster form is complemented by two side handles and a defined mouth. The naturalistic decoration of the body centers on a fascinating duality of masks: a woman's face on one side and a bearded man's mask on the opposite.
Henri Jacobs was a highly respected and celebrated Belgian sculptor of the Art Nouveau period.
H. Luppens & Cie was a renowned foundry in Brussels, Belgium, active in the 19th century. They specialized in the manufacture of high quality bronzes ranging from large clock and furniture sets to ceiling and chandeliers. Their numerous objects are valued for their quality and are now in collections around the world.
