This Art Nouveau tabletop centerpiece pitcher is made of silver-plated pewter. Its design focuses on a Dionysian theme: two Bacchantes (priestesses of Bacchus) are arranged on the sides as handles, each holding bunches of grapes. The lower part is decorated with grapes, vines and a third reclining bacchante, covered with a veil.
The sculptor Charles Théodore Perron, known for his genre sculptures and Art Nouveau decorative elements, was a pupil of Falguière and other masters. Perron exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1895, garnering numerous awards, including an honorable mention (1896), successive medals (1897, 1899) and a first-class medal in 1910, as well as participating in the Universal Exposition of 1900.
