DESCRIPTION
LORENA GUZMÁN (Córdoba, Argentina, 1978)
"Minotaur".
Epoxy resin.
Presents losses and faults.
Signed.
Measurements: 190 x 55 x 75 cm.
Resin sculpture that presents a hybrid figure that emerges with dramatic intensity from a dense, shapeless and textured organic mass. The piece shows an anthropomorphic being with a bull's head and prominent curved horns. The muscles of the chest and arms, treated with a polished, naturalistic modeling, deliberately contrast with the rough, almost geological surface that forms the base and envelope of the lower body. This contrast reinforces the duality between form and matter.
In the lower part there is a smooth relief reminiscent of a ritual hollow or a votive plaque, on which is inscribed a circular motif that evokes a labyrinth, accompanied by the name of the author.
Lorena Guzmán is a graduate of the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts and holds a degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia. She complemented her education with studies in Painting Restoration at the Universidad Nacional del Arte, where she also completed a Master's Degree in Conservation and Restoration of oil paintings. His theoretical preparation was expanded through the Specialization in Art History at the National Museum of Fine Arts and various study programs offered by the Academia del Sur.
In the sculptural field, he deepened in multiple procedures, dedicating himself especially to polyester resin techniques under the guidance of the artist Leo Vinci.
Since 1999 she has participated constantly in solo and group exhibitions, both in Argentina and abroad. His first solo exhibition took place in 2007 at the Vasari Gallery.
