Lorenzo Frechilla del Rey was a key figure of the Spanish sculpture of the 20th century. Spanish sculptor noted for his innovative spirit and his links with the artistic avant-garde. He trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Valencia and in 1948 he co-founded the avant-garde group Pascual Letreros, active until the mid-1950s. In 1948 he co-founded the avant-garde group Pascual Letreros, an artistic-literary group deeply influenced by Joaquín Torres García. Frechilla exhibited with the group until 1954, consolidating his presence in the avant-garde art scene.
In 1951 he moved to Madrid, where he met Teresa Eguíbar, also a sculptor and companion in life and creation. Together they took up residence in Paris and in 1961 they joined the East-West International Group. Throughout the sixties, Frechilla participated in traveling exhibitions throughout Europe, expanding his international projection. In 1968 he undertook a trip to the Nordic countries and exhibited in Norway with the group, in addition to solo exhibitions in Helsingborg (Sweden) and two in Paris.
In 1969 he attended the computer art seminars organized by the Centro de Cálculo de la Universidad de Madrid, placing himself at the forefront of technological art. That same year he participated in the Cybernetic Art Exhibition, along with prominent figures such as Eusebio Sempere, Barbadillo, Manolo Quejido, José María Yturralde and Teresa Eguíbar.
