DESCRIPTION
Florentine school, late nineteenth century.
"Female nude".
White marble on Portoro marble base.
It has slight flaws in the area of the toes.
Signed "L. Morelli".
Measurements: 35 x 50 x 18 cm.
Art Deco sculpture made of white marble and mounted on a striking black Portoro marble base, whose chromatic depth creates a contrast. The work was created during the height of the Art Deco movement, a period characterized by the exaltation of modernity and formal purification, values that are clearly manifested in this piece.
The sculpture presents a realistic modeling, attentive to the anatomy and the harmony of proportions, but subjected to a rigorously geometric conception that orders the composition and stylizes the forms.
The polished surfaces and well-defined volumes reinforce the sensation of solidity and formal clarity, while the economy of superfluous details draws attention to the purity of the lines and the structural coherence of the whole.
