The Make Up series is one of Åsa Jungnelius' most emblematic projects for the historic Swedish firm Kosta Boda. Through recognizable icons of the cosmetic universe - lipstick, nail polish and lips - the artist transforms everyday objects associated with femininity and consumption into glass sculptures charged with irony and sensuality.
Åsa Jungnelius is an artist and designer trained at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Her work, present in public and private collections, explores social constructions around gender, desire and material culture.
Kosta Boda, a Swedish design firm, was founded in 1742 by Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein. Kosta Boda is the oldest glass and crystal factory in Sweden still in operation.
