DESCRIPTION
Maison Jansen style, 20th century
Pair of morillos.
Blued iron.
Measurements: 55 x 31 x 46 cm (each).
Pair of burnished iron morillos of elegant sculptural design, close to the style spread by Maison Jansen, famous Parisian firm active since the late nineteenth century and especially influential in the decoration of high-level interiors during the twentieth century.
Each piece takes the stylized form of a bird - with a long curved neck and schematic head - whose body is resolved by a delicate openwork structure of scrolls and vegetal elements in wrought iron. The composition combines visual lightness and structural firmness, integrating functionality and ornamental refinement.
The dark bluing enhances the linear pattern of the iron and adds depth to the whole, evoking the neoclassical taste reinterpreted with modern sensibility, characteristic of many interiors associated with Maison Jansen. The stylization of the forms and the balance between symmetry and decorative fantasy refer to a language that dialogues with both Art Deco and French historicism.
More than simple fireplace accessories, these morillos are conceived as authentic sculptural pieces, intended to enrich sophisticated spaces where handcrafted detail and timeless elegance were essential.
