Conceived as a sumptuous decorative piece, this centerpiece combines the intense color of malachite with the luster of gilded bronze in a composition of distinctly sculptural character.
The wide bowl, with a low profile and pronounced concentric, undulating veining, rests on a powerfully built male figure. This is Hercules, recognizable by the Nemean lion’s skin that partially covers his body, depicted here in the role of an Atlantean. The tilt of his head and torso conveys a sense of physical exertion, while the careful modeling of his musculature reinforces the character’s heroic dimension.
The figure stands on a stepped circular plinth, which in turn rests on a raised base supported by four feet. The base features rich relief decoration of scrollwork, plant motifs, fretwork, and classically inspired elements.

The ensemble reflects a historicism rooted in Neoclassicism, a legacy of the Empire style, evident in the mythological iconography, the monumental scale of the composition, and the combination of sumptuous materials. The striking contrast between the green of the malachite and the gold of the bronze accentuates its ornamental presence, making it a piece specifically designed to preside over a table, console, or representative space.
