The piece presented for bidding is a singular trophy or totem made in sandstone, of enigmatic character and strong sculptural presence. Its iconography seems to allude to the Olympic universe: on the front, a female head stands out, evocative of a classical deity, while the Olympic rings appear on the back. The object is articulated as a symbolic journey through different sports disciplines. On one side, fencing and basketball are represented; on the other, rugby; on the back, shot put; and on the opposite side, tennis and javelin throwing. This iconographic diversity reinforces its reading as a tribute to the Olympic spirit.
