DESCRIPTION
Spanish school of the XIX century.
"Don Quixote".
Carved chestnut wood.
Exhibits sligthly wear consistent with age and use and some slight flaws.
Measurements: 116 x 46 x 25 cm.
Don Quixote is represented in a refined chestnut wood sculpture, of remarkable quality and marked romantic character, where the famous nobleman adopts an elegant and theatrical attitude, more idealized than sober. The expressiveness of his smiling face, twisted mustache and pointed beard stand out, as well as the meticulousness of his Renaissance-inspired clothing, with rich folds, feathered hat and sword, elements that evoke the historicist and ornamental taste characteristic of 19th century European art, probably of Spanish or French influence.
