Bronze sculpture in Art Deco style. It represents the combat between a masculine figure and a panther, arranged on a rectangular base of green marble that accentuates the ornamental and expository character of the set.
The composition develops horizontally, with a marked tension between the two protagonists. The man, with an athletic anatomy and forced posture, faces the animal with a long rod or spear, while the beast advances with its body extended and its head raised. This arrangement gives the scene an intense dynamism, reinforced by the contrast between the elasticity of the human body and the power of the animal.
The theme of the struggle between man and wild nature is linked to the interest of the sculpture of the first decades of the twentieth century for scenes of strength, movement and exoticism, common in bronzes for bourgeois collectors.
