The piece now up for auction is a 19th-century Crucified Christ, characterized by marked naturalism and restrained drama. The figure has a slender, elongated body, with carefully modeled anatomy highlighted by subtle musculature that reveals the physical strain of the crucifixion. The head, tilted toward the right shoulder, displays an expression of profound suffering and contemplation, reinforced by the long hair and parted beard. The wounds and streaks of blood are rendered with restraint, emphasizing the devotional nature of the image without resorting to excessive sensationalism.
