Susy Gómez creates work marked by a strong autobiographical dimension, in which everyday elements are transformed into symbols rich in meaning. Dresses, hearts, eyes, houses, flowers, boats, butterflies, and chairs form a unique visual vocabulary through which the artist explores issues related to identity, memory, fragility, and personal experience. In “Sigo mi camino,” the dress—one of the most iconic motifs of her career—once again takes center stage, consolidating a body of work that has garnered recognition in prominent international contemporary art contexts, such as the ARCO art fair.

The sculpture depicts an empty, uninhabited dress, whose absence of a body invites reflection on the imprint of human experience, the passage of time, and the construction of identity. Crafted from black-patinated aluminum, the work establishes an intriguing dialogue between form and material: Gómez transforms a material traditionally associated with solidity, industry, and the masculine realm into a structure that appears light, organic, and delicate. Through this process, the artist imbues the piece with a remarkable poetic sensibility, transforming the dress into a metaphor for presence and absence, for the intimate and the universal, and for the life journey alluded to by its very title, *Sigo mi camino*.

Susy Gómez studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and, after completing her studies, held her first solo exhibition at the Norai Gallery in her hometown in 1987. Six years later, in 1993, her solo exhibition at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona generated great excitement. Her work is characterized by great technical versatility, encompassing painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, video, and installation. In 1995, she participated in the ARCO art fair, achieving a level of success that led to her inclusion in major group exhibitions both nationally and internationally, such as the Salón de los 16 that same year. Since then, she has held numerous solo exhibitions, both in Spanish cities and in Turin, Athens, and Nice, where she exhibited her work at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. In 1999, she was awarded the Endesa Fellowship, and the following year, the Centre del Carmen at the IVAM dedicated its first retrospective to her. Her work encompasses various approaches that continue the tradition of post-minimalism while also engaging with the most contemporary aesthetics.
