A painter, sculptor, and draftsman, Joan Castejón is one of the leading representatives of the social realism of the Grup d’Elx within the Valencian artistic renewal of the second half of the 20th century. Trained at the Círculo de Bellas Artes and the San Carlos Academy in Valencia, Castejón has held solo exhibitions at prominent venues such as the IVAM, the Larrés Drawing Museum, the Salvador Allende Museum in Chile, and the Lecasse Foundation... He has received the Total Work of Art Award from the Wagnerian Association of Alicante, among others, and his work is currently represented in the Museums of Contemporary Art in Elche and Santander, the IVAM in Valencia, the Salvador Allende Solidarity Museum in Chile, the Pérez Galdós Museum and Casa Colón in Las Palmas, the Telefónica and Banco Bilbao collections, the Alicante Provincial Council, the Palais des Arts in Toulouse, the Wolfenbüttel Library (Germany), the Lladró Museum in New York, and many other collections, both national and international.
