Futurism was an artistic movement born in Italy in the interwar period. Encouraged by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, who was in charge of the realisation of the manifesto, its postulates had two dominant themes: the machine and movement. Marinetti claimed that all fine art museums should be set on fire. For him, Futurist beauty could be found in an automobile wheel, not only for its beauty but also for its utility. In the field of photography, artists succeeded in representing speed through the serial repetition of the same object, which gave the eye the sensation of movement. In 1922 Ivo Pannaggi organised the first Futurist Art Exhibition in Macerata.
