The language of Maria Luisa Pereda rescues old photographs of family or social photos, old postcards, exhibition invitations, images of decoration magazines to intervene them in a bold and insightful way. The idea of trace, time or memory are concepts that are always present in her work, as well as a reflection on the confrontation between reality and abstraction. Collage (superposition and fragmentation) becomes for her a key and determining vehicle to develop her creations.
Graduated in Fine Arts in Madrid in 1988, Maria Luisa Pereda has received numerous awards and prizes, such as the Ifitry artist residency in Essaouira (Morocco). Essaouira (Morocco) or the Acquisition Award. LXIX National Exhibition of Plastic Arts Valdepeñas (Ciudad Real) in 2008. The Reina Sofia Museum of Art, the National Chalcography, the National Library, the Spanish Academy in Rome, the Museum of Art of Badajoz and the Museum of Graphic Work of San Clemente, in Cuenca, house his work.
