This photograph was on exhibition at the Galeria Espai Cavallers (Lleida, Spain) during the solo exhibition "Dear Diary". A scene of apparent fragility... that hides a world of contained strength. With an aesthetic reminiscent of classic cinema and televised courtroom drama, It wasn't me depicts a woman in a moment of public exposure, caught between media pressure, moral judgment and her own narrative. A tear runs down her cheek as she holds a lace handkerchief, seated before a microphone, with a blurred image in front of her and a Bible resting on the table. The photograph plays with the codes of power, femininity and public image, mixing irony, nostalgia and a certain social criticism. Every detail - the polished hairstyle, the pose, the expression - is loaded with intention.

"It wasn't me" is a frozen scene where emotion and artifice intertwine, leaving the viewer to decide where the truth ends... and where the performance begins....

Lídia Vives is a photographer and visual artist based in Barcelona. She has exhibited in museums and galleries such as the Louvre and the Saatchi Gallery, and has been published in media such as Vogue Italia or Esquire. Her work mixes pop aesthetics, social criticism and pictorial references to create powerful, beautiful and uncomfortable images at the same time.
