Robert Gligorov is a multifaceted artist (he works from video and photography to painting and installation) and a strong advocate of using disturbing images and disturbing sounds to move the viewer. Gligorov draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, including comics, film and historical artists such as Henri Matisse and Francis Bacon. His early works reflect a fascination with the human body and its possible transformations. A prime example of his work is "EXXX-Ray pistol" (1996), a piece showing an X-ray in which a pistol is pointed at the mouth of a supplicant figure.
