The one we now present is a photograph belonging to the series "Afronauts" (2011), a compendium that reimagined the history of the Zambian space program. In her projects Cristina de Middel explores the relationship between photography, reality and truth, often challenging the limits of traditional documentary filmmaking.

Cristina de Middel is an internationally recognized Spanish documentary photographer and artist. After working as a photojournalist, she has become known for her artistic style that fuses reality and fiction, questioning the nature of photographic truth. She was named president of the Magnum Agency in 2022 and in 2017 won Spain's National Photography Award. She also received the 2024 Princess of Asturias Award for Concord.
