Francesc Català Roca's photography is based on the neorealist concept of the image, always looking for an unusual point of view and, above all, the human setting of the subject. He is currently considered by many critics as the most important Catalan photographer of the 20th century. Son of the also photographer Pere Català Pic, he started in this art by the hand of his father. During his career he collaborated with various publications, such as "Destino" or "La Vanguardia", and illustrated numerous books with artistic photographs. He held his first solo exhibition in 1953, and his awards include the City of Barcelona (twice), the National Plastic Arts Award and the Medal of Artistic Merit.
