Edition of 10.
Measurements: 120 x 196 cm.
"East-West" shows how in his work Chi Peng interweaves the real and the fictional to construct complex narratives with strong visual impact; in this image, as in many others, the artist represents himself, using self-reference to explore duality and identity in a context marked by the digital.
Chi Peng is a contemporary Chinese artist and photographer living and working in Beijing, known for a deeply autobiographical body of work in which he often uses himself as a protagonist to explore themes such as identity, loneliness, memory, and the emotional and social tensions of contemporary China, especially in relation to the one-child policy; Trained at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing (CAFA), Chi Peng combines photography, performance and visual narrative to create symbolic images that oscillate between reality and fiction, and his work has been widely exhibited and recognized in museums, galleries and international exhibitions, consolidating him as one of the most prominent figures of his generation within Chinese contemporary art.
